The only argument I see from people who aren't that fond of him is that he looks disgusting. Just not my most favorite, he's a good villain that's about it. Lol he does look disgusting though.

I always had the impression people hated Imperfect Cell and Semi-Perfect Cell. Ig not on this forum. Imperfect Cell is widely considered to be the best version of his character, and for good reason as well. He gets real boring the moment he evolves to his Semi-Perfect Form, and manages to become even more uninteresting when he ascends to his Perfect Form.

Couldn't disagree more. Him disobeying his programming and developing bigger visions following his saiyan cells which serves as his main big flaw later makes him an interesting antagonist still, nevermind the fact that he was a lot more threatening than Freeza or Boo, given how he almost always held a much bigger gap in comparison with the heroes and how he had a pretty deadly combination of techniques, skills and intellect from the warriors he shares his cells with, never failing to gain an advantage on them and surprising the audience. Android 19 and 20 also had great debuts, mainly thanks to their merciless killing.

Namely he has none it's basically just going around killing everybody, and slowly destroying the whole entire universe. He turns into a boring doomsday monster in the end. I'm not sure how Cell could be considered more threatening than Freeza, and Buu if we go by how big the gaps in power between the heroes considering Boo was once a massive amount stronger than (SSJ3) Goku at one point. Freeza was also literally a few hundred times stronger than the heroes at one point in time as well. And? I'd actually say that Boo, and Freeza had a greater (more interesting) reservoir of moves. Heck, Cell never even used a tenth of all of these skills.

Cell was miles ahead from everyone in his perfect form. He could've manhandled the entire group without the need of using his full power. With Boo, in each form, there was Goku, Gohan, Gotenks and Vegetto to stand up against him, he never held a huge advantage and a character just as strong if not stronger was still there, waiting to show up. Same goes for Freeza, who was ridiculed by Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta or Krillin in almost every form and was being ridiculed by Goku in his final form at times. Toriyama made him get defeated in a pathetic manner twice, first in Namek after Goku threw his last beam at Freeza and when he got butchered by Trunks. Cell preserved his dignity quite better in comparison. Nevermind the fact that Cell's flaws could be attributed to the people he shares his cells with, that makes him even more interesting still.
